This is a scenario for discussion, not a customer deployment or a measured outcome.
The everyday situation.
A research team has interviews, field photographs and documentary notes about a place or topic. A first draft contains a claim. Before using it, the team wants to find the sources that support it—and any source that disagrees.
Start with the question.
Which interviews, images and documents support this finding?
Who reviews: Researchers, special collections and learning teams.
Sample material: Approved interview recordings, notes, photographs and reference documents.
A possible VAIMS-assisted workflow.
- Select authorized material within the agreed consent and access boundaries. Choose a claim with known supporting and opposing evidence.
- Search for relevant terms and candidate passages. Use transcript and document references to locate material; use visual search to investigate related images where appropriate.
- Open the source and inspect context. A correct timestamp does not establish that the speaker meant what a summary says.
- Keep verified observations separate from interpretations and unanswered questions. Let a researcher decide whether the finding is adequately supported.
What remains a human decision.
A researcher checks consent, interpretation and contradictory evidence. No autonomous scientific validation.
What would make the evaluation useful?
Relevant sources found, unsupported conclusions avoided and review time. Compare the complete task with the existing approach, including verification and correction—not only the first search response. Include a question for which the sample has no answer.
A good test includes a question with no supported answer and a source that contradicts the draft. Evaluate the research trail, not the confidence of the wording.
Scope and availability.
